Meet Shauntel Robinson, The actress who portrayed Marcia Garcia at this year's Fancy Hat Literary Luncheon.

Some of you may remember Shauntel from the 2011 Fancy Hat Literary Luncheon where she portrayed Chaurisse in the unforgettable "Silver Sparrow" skit .

Shauntel is a well known actress in Jacksonville, and has been featured in many productions by Stage Aurora as well as the historic Ritz Theatre.

I reached out to Shauntel in March and solicited my sister-in-law, Lisa for a part in the skit/monologue that I wanted to write. It took me all of 30 minutes to write, and Shauntel had not read the book, but she began speaking the words on the phone as if she knew Marcia's character. In early May, I called to check in on Shauntel and to remind her of the date of the luncheon. She indicated that she began reading the book, and was enjoying it....(lightbulb) so, I asked her if she would attend as a guest and sit in the audience. That would really surprise my guests and throw them off the trail of looking around for the author.

I devised a plan, and she really brought those words (and that accent was awesome) to life.

Lisa indicated that she was so caught up in the moment (she actually thought someone was "crashing" the luncheon) that she almost forgot she had a line, which went something like this: "Marcia!!!! didn't the G.U.I.L.D. instruct you to remain within the pages of the book?!" It was priceless...

Lauren Francis-Sharma later relayed how much she enjoyed the skit and it was not until the autograph signing on the lawn that she realized Marcia (Shauntel) was seated at her table! She thought she simply went to the restroom and missed the skit (now, that was funny!!)
