A Professional Journalistic Perspective

Over the years, there have been several articles, reports and interviews written about The Fancy Hat Literary Luncheon. There “have not” however been any blogs written by a participant, who is also a long-time friend.

During the early years of the literary luncheon, my friend, Merdis “Penny” Dickerson (“P” as we prefer to call her) has been in the audience. Hospitalization denied her attendance in 2013, however she had friends JayCee and KayCee there to tell her all about it and present her with her personalized gift bag (if you know “P” you know how much she simply loves a gift bag) once she recovered.

Penny, is not just a journalist; she holds several Beauty Pageant titles, is an English Professor, Published Author, Motivational Speaker and most recently a Cancer Survivor. She is full of words, antidotes and life stories that serve as balm for the soul (I speak from experience as this is the effect this wordsmith has on me)
